About Outreach and Continuing Education
Outreach and Continuing Education (OCE) began in 1912 to help facilitate the first home study course for teachers. Now, OCE supports diverse learning opportunities throughout the Puget Sound and the Central Salish Sea regions.
Our team collaborations with colleges, departments and the community, linking university resources with educational needs and opportunities.
WesternOnline delivers fully-accredited, high-quality online classes to students in Washington State.
Summer Session at Western provides opportunities for students and the community to experience Western in a whole new way. Accelerated courses are available in six-week or nine-week sessions on-campus with smaller class sizes.
OCE assists Western’s colleges in developing community college partnerships in Bremerton, Everett, Port Angeles, and Poulsbo. These partnerships provide degree program pathways for students throughout Washington.
Western’s Testing Center serves students, faculty, and community. The knowledgeable staff at the Testing Center are here to assist with a range of testing needs.
Western C.A.R.E.S (Community. Activities. Resources. Education. Support) provides free and low-cost online educational opportunities for all ages.
Western offers with the support of OCE a variety of face-to-face and online credit-bearing self-sustaining electives that range from Anthropology and Glassblowing to Environment and Travel; from Fitness and Self-Defense to Sailing and Ultimate Disc. OCE also helps with the support of Western’s travel experience program Faculty-led USA.
