The Summer Advantage

Top 10 reasons to enroll

  1. Save time, save money.
Summer per credit tuition can be less than the academic year for non-resident students. Affordable campus housing options are also available.
  2. Earn credit faster.
Complete one or more classes in just six or nine weeks. Classes meet more frequently than during the traditional school year, offering an intensive academic experience.
  3. Get into classes.
Get into that “always full” class during the summer. Make progress towards graduation requirements or satisfy pre-requisites for an upcoming quarter.
  4. Take "summer only" offerings.
Explore a field course, learn to fly fish, or complete one year of language or chemistry in 6 or 9 weeks.
  5. Online options: anytime, anywhere.
Going home for the summer? Working full time? Online classes give you maximum flexibility with your schedule.
  6. Smaller classes.
Enjoy the ideal environment to focus on a challenging subject with increased student-faculty interaction. It's also easier to enroll in courses that are normally in high demand.
  7. Study abroad.
Explore the world while earning Western credits. Travel and study with Western faculty and students.
  8. Stay active this summer and earn an additional credit.
Summer @ Western has some fabulous PE Activity courses.
  9. Graduate on time.
Summer offers flexible options so you can catch up or stay on track to graduate.
  10. Work, Study and Play.
Summer is a shorter quarter and provides flexible options so you can do it all. Enjoy the beautiful summer and activities in Bellingham including free concerts, Independence Day fireworks, Northwest Raspberry Festival, hiking Artist’s Point or just a lazy day on the beach.
