This series is a LIVE, bi-weekly and month-long interview series which gathers marginalized voices of people of South Asian heritage from different walks of life. Dr Dharitri Bhattacharjee, South Asian historian from Western’s History Department will talk to students, small business owners, essential workers, community leaders, refugees and academics about their myriad responses to the pandemic. Interviews will last for 30 minutes followed by Q&A with the audience. This week, Kamrun Nessa Mirza, an engineer, entrepreneur and community leader, will talk about women, education, Islam and Spreeha community kitchen.

Poetry helps us feel connected in times of isolation. Join us for an interview and reading with poet, Derek Annis. Derek Annis is the author of Neighborhood of Gray Houses (Lost Horse Press), the associate director of Willow Springs Books, the manager of the Blue Lynx Prize for Poetry, an annual full-length poetry collection contest by Lynx House Press, and the Lynx House Press social media manager. Their poems have appeared in The Account, Colorado Review, Epiphany, The Gettysburg Review, The Missouri Review Online, Poet Lore, Spillway, Third Coast, and many other journals. What animals and plants will we find living in the sub-tidal ecosystem? Join us online for a virtual low tide beach walk at local Kitsap beaches. Each low tide walk will happen at a different beach---the exact location is a secret! Where will we go? Join us to find out! We encourage you to explore local beaches while following proper beach etiquette and social distancing guidelines. Get wet, get muddy, explore!
