Youth Programs

Students in grades K-12 enjoy access to specialized labs and university resources as they explore their intellectual and creative passions in a safe, lively college atmosphere.

Youth Programs provides educational courses and activities throughout the year including international youth programs, after-school programs, evening and weekend programs. Participants can enjoy full-day camps, half-day courses, or intensive one-time sessions taught by top quality educators in a hands-on, interactive learning environment that encourages inquiry by the student. Western is an AA/EO institution.

  • Join us and a whole community of GEMS for an empowering evening on Western’s campus to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) topics.

  • Is your child interested in other cultures? They are invited to Western’s campus for a week-long day camp. Participants join international elementary students to explore weekly topics using science, art, reading and more. Help them learn about Western and Bellingham. Get daily exercise with our awesome recreation staff in the afternoon.

  • Each summer, Youth Programs hosts a variety of student programs on Western’s campus. Our volunteers serve as aids for the instructors and as role models to the participants. Examples of a volunteer’s daily responsibilities might include conversation practice with international students, assisting an instructor in classroom activities, or attending local field trips around Bellingham.
