Asia University America Program

Western Washington University’s Asia University America Program (AUAP) is a 5-month English language and culture immersion program. It offers a premiere career development and leadership focus.

Along with English instruction, AUAP students visit local businesses, have access to internships, and have unique opportunities to interview and job shadow in the region.

AUAP is a unique partnership between Western in Bellingham, Washington and Asia University in Tokyo, Japan. Since 1988 more than 4,100 students have attended Western through AUAP.

Get Involved

AUAP is supported by the volunteerism of Western students and Bellingham community members. Many of our current staff started as Campus Friends or AUAP roommates! Volunteers help students experience American life and culture through a variety of activities. In the process they build lasting relationships that stretch beyond the length of the program.
